Flying Fish!

Journal # 14
February 12, 2009

Well I am officially sick. Last night I had a fever of 101 and a sore throat. Today I woke up with the same fever and a sore throat along with a runny nose :( I only went to one of my classes because I had a 20 min speech. The speech was good, it was a group one so I only talked for about 4 min. I think I did pretty well. I wasn'’t that nervous because there is only about 15 people in the class. After class I came back to my room and slept for about 6 hours. I am just sooo drained and tired.

My roommate woke me up at 5:30 and I ran to my “party ”with my extended family. My extended family is the dean of academics, his wife, and their grandson. Extended family is a group of students that are assigned to a family on the boat to meet with a couple times a month just to talk about things. The family that I have is really nice and they have connections on the ship, so we get lots of goodies :) When we were on their balcony they pointed out to us flying fish. It was sooo cool. The fish are really small and have wings that carry them on top of the ocean for about a couple hundred feet. That was really cool.

Now I am just in my room trying to get over my sickness. I have been taking a lot of medicine and getting lots of rest so I am hoping that I get better before Namibia which we get to in 2 days!!! Talk to you later.

Love
Michelle

  1. I am sorry to hear you are sick. Not a good time for you. Hopefully you didn't get the grandson of your extended family sick. Uncle Jerry says to take Vitamin C (he is a BIG believer in it!). I have never heard of flying fish, but I bet they were fun to watch. Get better soon.

  2. Michelle, I hope you are feeling better when you dock in two days. That must have been neat to watch the fish fly. It sounds like you have a good extended family. Get well soon.
